Passport Questions

ALL guests/travelers WILL need a passport in order to travel to Mexico and return home to the U.S. If you do not already have a passport, please make arrangements to get one as soon as possible. Currently the estimated wait time for passports is 5-7 weeks.

If you already have a passport, please be sure that it does not expire within 2 months of your return date.

What Should I Wear to the Wedding?

Beach Chic, Beach Formal, or Beach Semi-Formal attire is appropriate for the wedding. Both the ceremony and reception will be in shaded areas but we want you to be comfortable as it may still be hot, humid and windy.

Ladies: Long maxi dresses, high-low dresses, and short dresses are all appropriate but do consider there may be some wind! Dress pants/dress shorts and a blouse, or a jumpsuit are also okay! High heels are acceptable but keep in mind, the reception will be on a wooden deck so thin heels may not be as suitable. Dress sandals may be more appropriate and we do ask you avoid flip flops. Please also avoid wearing colors typically reserved for the bride: white, ivory, and cream.

Gentlemen: Suits, dress pants and blazer/jacket, and ties are optional but not mandatory. Button up shirts, polos, golf/chino shorts, dress shoes, and dressy sandals are all appropriate. Do feel free to wear lighter fabrics such as linen for your comfort.

Please avoid wearing jeans, cargo shorts/pants, gym shoes, or flip flops. The ceremony and reception will be off the beach so no need to worry about the sand.

What should I pack?

- Your outfit for the wedding (Please see "What Should I Wear to the Wedding? section)
- If you arrive by Friday, make sure to pack an outfit for the "All White" welcome party
- Swimwear
- Sandals
- Sunscreen
- Bug Spray
- Sunglasses
- Hats for sun protection
- Tumbler cups (you may wish to use your tumbler for drinks at the pool/beach)
- Reusable straws (the hotel is straw free so these come in handy for refreshments!)
- Floats for the ocean/pool (although floats in the main pool are not allowed, you may wish to use them in the ocean and/or in your swim up suite if that is the room you book)
- Portable Safe (See Safety Section)
- All your typical essentials/toiletries/chargers/medications etc.

*While they do have a shop in the hotel, items like sunscreen and bug spray are extremely overpriced! Please bring your own from home.*

Although the resort is all-inclusive, we recommend bringing $1 & $5 USD bills to tip the staff.

*Please note that some restaurants and bars at the resort require "casual elegance" attire, which means no flip flops or shorts, and a collared shirt may be required. Men, they will not let you into those restaurants for dinner if you are wearing shorts. For more information on dress codes for each restaurant at the resort, please click HERE and select a restaurant to review their specific dress code.*

Do I Need To Tip?

Your resort fee has built-in tips for the staff, so you are not obligated to tip the staff. However, if you feel your server/bartender/etc. has delivered exceptional service, then absolutely feel free to tip at your discretion!

Additionally, you may wish to tip your driver to and from the resort and any excursion staff should you wish to do an excursion during your stay.

Safety Concerns

We know that there are some concerns about traveling to Mexico and want every individual who attends our wedding to feel safe doing so. We chose Finest Playa Mujeres due to it's more secluded location and safety measures.

Finest Playa Mujeres is located in a gated complex within Playa Mujeres. In order to reach the resort all guests must pass through 2 secured gates. Security gates at all property entrances are patrolled to control every person who enters and leaves the resort, ensuring that they always have registration of every entrance onto the property.

Additional security measures include guards who patrol the property 24 hours a day and security check points at each end of the beach to ensure only those working on or staying at the resort can enter the premise.

To date there have been NO issues in this area of Mexico. We hope these details bring you peace of mind, but of course we respect your decision should you choose not to attend due to safety concerns.

A note on personal belongings:
Theft can be an issue no matter where you go. While the resort does offer a secure safe in every room, if you have additional concerns, we recommend a portable safe (which attaches to a standing structure in the room) for your personal belongings/valuables/cash. If your suitcase locks, that is another option for where to store your personal belongings/valuables/cash during your stay.

Please DO NOT leave valuables or cash out in your room to ensure there are no issues!
